Woman Sentenced to One Year in Prison after Attending Volleyball Match in Iran

An Iranian-British woman was arrested in June as she attempted to attend a men’s volleyball match in Iran. The woman was recently found guilty by authorities of spreading propaganda against the ruling system. She was subsequently sentenced to serve one year in an Iranian prison, her lawyer said.

Egypt Jails Eight Men for Gay Marriage Video

Eight Egyptian men were sentenced to three years in jail on Saturday over an alleged gay marriage video. The men were brought up on charges of spreading indecent images and inciting debauchery after they appeared in the video, which had been posted online, purporting to show the country’s very first gay marriage ceremony.
