Following the tragic and (it must be said) seemingly pointless and preventable death of Star Trek actor, Anton Yelchin, his parents plan to sue the company they believe responsible for their family's loss; Fiat Chrysler.

Not A Total Recall

Of course, Fiat Chrysler are the makers of the Grand Cherokee Jeep which pinned and crushed Anton to death in the driveway of his Studio City home in June.

The same vehicle was subject to a voluntary recall in April, due to the fact that gear shifters confused many motorists, resulting in the vehicles rolling away unexpectedly.

More than one million vehicles were recalled globally as a result of the April decision.

A US Government investigation in to the gear shifters had shown that 266 crashes resulted from the problem, with 68 injuries.

TMZ also reported that the actors parents had applied to be the administrator's of their son's estate.

Yelchin died without a will, leaving behind more than US$1 million, with the actor's last film, Star Trek Beyond, taking huge money at the box office in its first two weekends.

An Avoidable Tragedy

An Avoidable Tragedy

It can't be an easy thing for his family to go through, only about a month and a half after their son's untimely death, and surely the money won't bring their son back.

But it will give them someone to hold accountable for what appears an avoidable family trgaedy.
