Mariah Carey Blames Producers For Awful New Years Eve Performance

It's Sabotage!

It's Sabotage!

According to various reports which have surfaced in the wake of Mariah Carey's terrible New Years Eve performance, the diva is said to be furious at what she and her camp claim was a case of sabotage.

She's putting the blame for the debacle firmly on production company Dick Clark Productions.

Just Wing It

Just Wing It

According to a report by TMZ, the Dick Clark camp accepted the blame for the problems as soon as they surfaced. But the same report also said that the DCP staff were "screaming" about the debacle, with one staff member heard to say “I don’t care that her ears didn’t work. She could’ve just winged it.”

There are conflicting reports as to who actually did the sound check. DCP claim that Mariah simply palmed it off to a stand-in to carry out the sound check while Mariah's people say that while the stand-in took care of the dance routine, it was Carey herself who did the vocals.

Either way, as TMZ reports, Mariah's camp also say that she was begged to do the gig, which she did for free.

We Could Be In Aspen

We Could Be In Aspen

“We could be in Aspen right now having the best time instead of being in dog shit Times Square that smelled like a fucking sewer," said one of the diva's staff, according to TMZ.

It's clear that Mariah and her people didn't have the best time on New Years Eve.

They went on to claim that the whole thing was set up as sabotage to create drama surrounding the event in the hunt for a publicity buzz. Those are some big claims, obviously, and the DCP crew are claiming that all it amounts to is blatant defamation.

Outrageous and Frankly Absurd

Outrageous and Frankly Absurd

“As the premier producer of live television events for nearly 50 years, we pride ourselves on our reputation and longstanding relationships with artists,” Dick Clark Productions said in a statement.

“To suggest that dcp, as producer of music shows including the American Music Awards, Billboard Music Awards, New Year’s Rockin’ Eve and Academy of Country Music Awards, would ever intentionally compromise the success of any artist is defamatory, outrageous and frankly absurd.”

Let's be honest, this isn't nearly the first time that Mariah has appeared less-than-pro onstage. She's been caught out on a handful of occasions in the past, but let's not get in to that right now!
