Wolf Of Wall Street Fake Cocaine Sent Jonah Hill To Hospital

Have You Seen The Wolf?

Have You Seen The Wolf?

If you have seen The Wolf Of Wall Street then you will be familiar with Jonah Hill's character - the creepy, highly inappropriate cocaine fiend that befriend's Leonardo DiCaprio's main character.

It sure looks like they did A LOT of coke. But it's a movie. It wasn't real cocaine, of course.

As it turns out, just because it was only fake coke, doesn't mean it wasn't harmful!

Daily Dose Of Vitamins....And Then Some!

Like any self-respecting stereotypical Wall Street gurus of the 80s, these guys loved cocaine. And so to portray such a character on film would require a substitute, ensuring authenticity without actually being high, putting one's health in jeopardy and developing a costly hobby.

As the New York Post reported, the fake drug of choice was really just vitamin powder.

In small doses, the stuff is harmless. But they were filming for a pretty long time, and it affected Hill health...as he revealed on Any Given Wednesday with Bill Simmons;

“I had to be hospitalized," he began.

"If you ingest that much matter into your lungs you’ll get very sick, and we were literally doing fake coke for, like, seven months, every day," claimed Hill.

Seems reasonable...

“I never had more vitamin D in my entire life; I could have lifted a car over my fucking head!"

Using Music

Using Music

Hill said the secret to acting as though you're high is to get the experience rolling with a whole lot of coffee and Red Bull (the latter of which can't be too healthy in itself).

“It’s interesting pretending to be on drugs,” he said.

“I’ll use music. I’ll make a playlist for every scene, so I’ll try to make, like, music that (makes me) jittery and chaotic … and then just drink a ton of coffee and Red Bull.”
