Seth Rogen Says Even He Is Shocked At What He Got Away With In "Sausage Party"

A Sausage Ain't A Sausage Anymore

A Sausage Ain't A Sausage Anymore

Once you witness the movie Sausage Party, it will be impossible to ever look at a sausage the same way again.

In fact, the same might be said for other types of food too. It certainly is a messed up world that the film portrays!

How Do We Rate It?

How Do We Rate It?

The film is a kind of spoof of the children's fare released by the likes of Pixar, Disney, and DreamWorks, only it takes the cute animation and turns it 100% in to an R-rated adult film.

I mean, at one point, the main characters all engage in an orgy!

But why would that ever be conceivably okay to get past the censors?!

Speaking to the LA Times, Seth Rogen (who made the film with his usual band of buddies and voices one of the lead characters) explained how even he was surprised with what they got away with.

“I’m honestly shocked by what we got away with,” he began. “We actually had a longer version of the orgy and we ourselves sort of self-censored.”

“We were able to get away with stuff I wouldn’t have even attempted to do in a live-action movie because it would be pornographic,” he explained in reference to the fact that it would appear there is no actual precedent when it comes to pornography and animated food.

“But because it’s food and it’s not real and it’s not anatomically correct, it gives you that leeway.”

Having starred (or at least, his voice) in children's animations in the past, Rogen explains that it isn't always easy for a guy with a potty mouth like himself.

“I definitely swear accidentally when I’m doing animated movies that aren’t R-rated,” Seth admitted.

“I just have a limited vocabulary and sometimes they ask me to improvise and I go right to my normal, which is not always good.”

Questionable Animators

Rogen also made another admission to the LA Times; that he wondered if they had crossed the line at a few points.

“Some of the physical stuff the animators came up with made me really question their sanity and their mental wellbeing," he joked.

Aside from Rogen, the film also stars Michael Cera in another of the lead roles. Along for the ride (and orgy) with those two, are the likes of Kristen Wiig, Jonah Hill, Bill Hader, James Franco, Paul Rudd and Salma Hayek.

If you're going to watch the trailer, and you're at work or grandma is visiting....wear headphones, okay?
