Cobain’s body was found by an electrician, in his home, on the 8th of April, 1994. However, the police said that it is probable his actual death took place three days earlier, on the 5th of April.

The singer and songwriter was found lying with both the shotgun he used to end his life, as well as a suicide note. The police reported that it was quite obvious that he had a fatal wound to his head which was made by the shotgun.

The medical examiner reported that Cobain’s body had puncture wounds on the insides of both of his elbows, suggesting injections of something. He was known to have been battling the perils of drug addiction and had been reported to have been suicidal by his wife, Courtney Love.

Four different handwriting experts were given the note to examine with only one conclusively deciding it was indeed written by Kurt. One of the lines in the note contained a quote from a Neil Young song, ‘My My, Hey Hey, (Out Of The Blue)’ which read, “..it’s better to burn out than to fade away,..”.

A private detective hired by Courtney Love to find Cobain after he left rehab, claimed his death was murder.
