Homewrecker Penguin Fight Over "Cheating Wife" Has The Whole Internet In Shock

Homewrecker!

Homewrecker!

When we get that vicarious urge to snoop on the lives of others, or even just watch a  bit of trashy fictional drama on the television, we're usually tuning in to the Kardashians et al, or a daytime soap opera.

But a documentary has recently proven that, when it comes to the juicy stuff, perhaps we need look no further than the animal kingdom.

Internet Sensations

Internet Sensations

After National Geographic released a bit on the extra-marital habits of penguins, the internet has gone absolutely crazy over it.

Fight Night

Fight Night

As part of their "Animal Fight Night" series, Nat Geo showed us a female penguin who was getting up to no-good while her "husband" was out.

But when he returned... Well, that's when shit got real!

Flipping Out

Flipping Out

As it turns out, penguin fights are every bit as brutal as UFC, and then some. As explained in the video to come, unlike most birds, their bones a quite solid and make severely punishing weapon when they "flip out"!

A Bloody Fight!

A Bloody Fight!

Basically, what we see in this clip as the husband return to his nest to find his "wife" getting it on with some other dude. He goes as berserk as you might expect anyone to in this situation, and a bloody fight ensues.

A Shocking Choice

A Shocking Choice

There's a few twists and turns within the short story, perhaps the most shocking of which is when the wife is called in to make her choice. The choice she makes shocked us all..!!!

Heartache and Bone Break

Heartache and Bone Break

Check out the short video and then the online reactions which followed. But be warned, this is a tale of heartache and bone break! It is certainly not for the faint-hearted. Seriously!

This Is Horrible!

This Is Horrible!

As you can see, it has had quite the effect on people of the world wide web, ever since we first laid eyes upon the extra-marital exploits of these little penguins.

Why Do We Care?

Why Do We Care?

Why do we care so much? I mean, it's just a few penguins who can't even speak English, right? So what is it about the sex life of penguins that has us so upset?

Misery Without End

Misery Without End

Could it be that it mirrors so much of what occasionally makes our lives so unbearably miserable? As suggested here; we thought it was only people who cheated and acted so horribly towards one another! If it's an inherent part of life, even without free will and conscious thought, then there's certainly no end to the misery!

We Though They Were Adorable...

We Though They Were Adorable...

This is great! That will show her what she could have had and what her life could have been like but she had to go and mess it all up, didn't she?!

But seriously, Happy Feet and any other penguin-related films have never given us an impression before beyond how adorable these little guys are. And now this?!!

Life Here Is Good...

Life Here Is Good...

This drama has emotion..... As the narrator in the Nat Geo clip told us;

“Every September, 200,000 penguins come here to fix up their nests and breed. Life here is good, but this husband has come home to find his 'wife' with another penguin,” he says.

How Good can life be if this happens?!!

Solid Boned Pummeling

Solid Boned Pummeling

And this drama has action....

“He flips out; his strategy is simple, batter the home wrecker until he flees," the narrator continues.

"Most birds have hollow bones in their wings to make them lighter for flight, but penguins don’t fly, their wings contain solid bone. They use them like baseball bats to club each other, delivering up to eight blows per second. Thick blubber helps protect vital organs from the pummeling.”

Despite the blubber; "ouch"!

Fly AF!

Fly AF!

There were a myriad of different reactions, some of which we have already seen.

We touched on the fact that perhaps the reason why this touched so many people is because we know the misery, but some people suggested there obvious are differences too....

Amoral and Barbaric

Amoral and Barbaric

A few social media users reckons that if people were like this, then all men would know how to fight. Are they suggesting this is a good thing and would make us tougher, or a bad thing because it would make us amoral and barbaric?

Instrinsic Misery

Instrinsic Misery

Personally, I think there's way too many questions involved, and basically, it just makes me plain old sad. I don't want to get too dramatic and pessimistic, but if cheating is an intrinsic part of being an animal, then what hope do we have with all the variables and pressures of the modern world?!

Still Single

Still Single

Here's another question that, if we're honest with ourselves, we'd rather not answer. But it does make you start to doubt yourself when a penguin has more offers than it can manage successfully and you're still single.

Misery Loves Co.

Misery Loves Co.

When all is said and done, it makes us very sad and the clip is a bit of a difficult watch. Having said that, it hasn't stopped the good people of the internet from watching it over and over again. Perhaps we get off over the misery...
