I must admit, I think the name of this wonder is quite catchy! It lived for approximately 1700 years before being destroyed by an earthquake. In ancient standards, this lighthouse was massive! Estimates put its height at approximately 110 meters

Compared to the Modern Wonders, the ancient ones are really not that special from our view! This wonder was a 30 meter statue celebrating a victory over Cyprus. We must say however, It was built to celebrate a victory of Cyprus. It was one of the largest man made statues in the world. It lived for approximately 900 years and was destroyed by an earthquake.

Okay, first and foremost, what is a Mausoleum and where is Halicarnassus. So a Mausoleum is essentially a tomb, and Halicarnassus was a location in the Persian Empire. What’s so special about it? Well if you ask us…it was just a tomb. Nothing really! It was nicely decorated with statues and carvings etc… but in the end of the day, it was a tomb. It lasted for over 1500 years.

Lasting for approximately 885 years, it was located in Greece, nobody actually knows what happened to it! There are no records of who took it, where it went and how it was destroyed! This, just like the Hanging Gardens of Babylon…bores us a little due to the lack of fun facts we can gather about it, so lets move on!

This was a beautiful Greek temple, built in Turkey in honour of the goddess Artemis. It was destroyed three times, once by a flood and then by fire, and then by the German Goths.. It no longer stands, with only being in existence for approximately 800 years. Its second destruction was by a man named Herostratus, after he destroyed it, anybody to utter his name was sentenced to death.

Even though this is an ancient wonder, the exact location of these gardens is unknown. Some people believe that these gardens where actually just poetic versus written out and never actually existed. Really, to us, this is boring wonder, so lets move on!

Essentially the oldest ancient wonder, having a lifespan of approx. 2584 BC to the current day, meaning that it is over 4500 years old! Located in Egypt, most individuals learn a little about this wonder in school, but here are some fun facts about it! No one truly knows how it was built, in terms of what construction method was used. No one truly knows how many labourers built it. No one truly knows how long it took to build, with estimates ranging from 10 – 30 years. Its 139 meters tall. It has 2,300,000 blocks. There are many theories that it is a stairway to heaven and that its alignment with celestial bodies is a sign that we are not alone.
