Skyscanner App Suggests Man Take 47-Year Stopover In Bangkok

Meet James

This is traveler, James Lloyd, who was trying to get from Christchurch, New Zealand, to London, England, in a reasonable amount of time - say, under four decades....

He used comparison website Skyscanner to help plan his trip. We all expect that there will be a stopover of some duration on such a long flight - but this is ridiculous...

47 Years

47 Years

Yeah, Skyscanner suggested that James could have a stopover at the Suvarnabhumi airport in Bangkok for a casual 413,786 hours - about 47 years.

I dunno about you guys but that's probably just a little too long for me...

It made the other stopover at Dubai for 8 hours seem like a blink's worth!

Lloyd did the only thing he could do - he posted it to Facebook and asked sarcastic questions.

"Hi Skyscanner,” wrote James. “Just wondering what you’d recommend I do during the 47 year layover your website has suggested?”

The Terminal

The Terminal

Hilariously, the guys at Skyscanner HQ weren't too stiff about the whole thing, responding;

Unless you’re a huge fan of The Terminal, I’d probably recommend spending those years outside of the airport,” they wrote, in reference to the 2004 Tom Hanks flick which sees him trapped inside an airport terminal for way too long.

I mean, he did find love in that movie, didn't he? Maybe James already has someone waiting for him....in London!

Eventually Skyscanner thanked Lloyd for bringing the glitch to light, but not before they suggested that, during his 47-year wait, he should probably visit the Moon Bar because “It’s open until 1am so you could spend a good chunk of time there” or perhaps he could become a tai chi expert!
