Here’s What The Future Looks Like With Trump The Leader Of The Free World

Immigration

Immigration

That wall that Trump wants to build between along the United States and Mexico border seemed fanciful, but he has vowed to get on with it, and get on with it straight away – from “day one” as he said...

Many of the supposed 11 million or so undocumented refugees living in the US (the alleged “rapists, drug dealers and murderers”) will be hunted and deported.

Along with that, the plan to close US borders to all Muslims “while we figure out what’s going on” with ISIS, will come in to effect. Expect a heightening sense of Islamophobia.

Women

Women

Of course, this one of the biggest issues of all leading in to the election, with an apparent misogynist lining up against an opponent he considered was playing the woman card.

Remember, this is a man who once said that women breast-feeding in public is “disgusting”, and he has also remarked that of his daughter; “If Ivanka weren’t my daughter, perhaps I’d be dating her”. Then, there’s another occasion when he uttered his thoughts that “a person who is flat-chested is very hard to be a 10.”

Trump does not appear to have an actual stance on women’s issues such as equal pay and paid leave, but we can safely assume that, due to the way he has behaved, if his Presidency doesn’t set those issues back, it will surely stall them.

Race and the Police

Race and the Police

The Black Lives Matter movement has been front and center in the news of late, and what does your new President think of the matter? Well, he has gone on record claiming that he intends to “give power back to the police” because of what he says is “rampant” crime.

Hillary wanted to end racial profiling while The Donald will now hand police the controversial frisk and search policy.

There is an inherently institutional racism in America which will be getting no better now. Oh yeah, you’ll also remember that he also defended the beating of a Hispanic man, saying that the perpetrators were merely passionate.

Foreign Policy

Foreign Policy

Trump reckons that America’s existing foreign policy is a “complete and total disaster” and so it would be fair to assume that there will be some major changes made now the White House is his.

Pretty much every choice that the Obama government made, Trump disagrees with, whether it be relationships with everyone from Iran to Israel, and Australia to Japan.

Then there's the Vladimir Putin thing, where Trump says that, although the two have never actually met, he believes that he and the Russian President would “get along very well”.

Trump no longer wants the United States to be the world’s policemen, and looks set to establish friendships with enemies. It all sounds nice in theory, but so many people are terrified of Trump’s limited knowledge of foreign relations. This could be the most extreme change and will surely be felt globally, as well as at home in the States.

Gay Marriage

Gay Marriage

This is one of those subjects where it would appear that Trump only takes an interest when he could be bothered, or when it happens to suit him. And for this reason, it seems that, just like with women’s issues, matters related to the LGBT community will be put on the back-burner.

Although he has given his blessing via Twitter when it comes to certain gay marriages (Elton John, for example) he has also gone on record to suggest that marriage should only be between a man and a woman. He does not believe that states have an obligation to recognize gay marriage.

Having said all of that, the opposing Democrat party has vowed to draw the line on the issue of gay marriage, and will no doubt challenge Trump and the Republicans on the matter.

Abortion

Abortion

While Hillary was a friend to abortion, Trump is not. Interestingly, at times he has suggested the he is pro-choice; however, it appears that this was a bit along the lines of his other fickle stances as he has also stated that “there has to be some form of punishment” for women who chose to have an abortion.

We are now left with the real possibility that young women will be forced to brave so-called backyard abortion clinics, or travel abroad to countries where conditions may not be up to American standard.
