It's official, folks. Donald Trump is the brand new President of the United States of America.

So many people around the world are absolutely shocked that Americans would allow this to happen, but it's time to get used to it.

To be fair to the President Elect, he was gracious in victory, beginning his speech by congratulating his opponent after opening with, "I just received a call from Secretary Clinton.." at around 3am local time.

"She congratulated us and I congratulated her on a very very hard fought campaign. We owe her a major debt of gratitude to for her service to our country," Trump said of the call he received from Clinton in which she conceded victory to the 45th President of the USA.

"Now it's time for America to bind the wounds of division," Trump said.

A great portion of his speech concerned this need he felt to unite the country, and he said he hoped that the citizens of the country would grow to be proud of their new President.

He said that it was his promise "to every citizen of our land" was to "be President for all Americans".

Trump said that due to his "great economic plan" the country would see fantastic benefit.

"We will double our growth and have the strongest economy anywhere in the world. At the same time we will get along with all other nations, willing to get along with us," he assured America.

He thanked all of his family and those who worked to help him achieve his goal.

"I love you and I thank you… this political stuff is nasty and it's tough," he said in reference to Melania and his family.

The Donald said he would do a "great job" in his new role.
