This Town Erected A Selfie Statue

Seriously?!

Seriously?!

Unfortunately for the residents of Sugar Land, Texas, this is real. The locals aren't happy about the new statue while visitors are wondering if Kim Kardashian might be the mayor (probably).

...And In Front Of City Hall?!

...And In Front Of City Hall?!

Yeah, its positioning in front of City Hall makes it even worse. It's not like the statue can be easily dismissed as if it were in a park nobody visits. It's right where it doesn't need to be, if you ask the locals!

As you can see, the people of Sugar Land and beyond aren't too happy about the statue, if Twitter posts are anything to go by. Facebook has lit up with the horror of the news, too. So what is the point of it?

Beautifying the City

“The donated statues are intended to depict activities common in the plaza and parks where they are installed,” said Sugar Land city spokesman, Doug Adolph, speaking to ABC News.

An official statement suggested that the statue “reflects the public’s strong desire for art that beautifies the city”.

We Aren't So Sure

We Aren't So Sure

Well, that might sound good in theory but we don't think the public likes the idea as much as the city might have hoped. But all is good and well, just so long as they keep it in Sugar Land and don't bring it to my town. It's difficult to know whether the artist was in in the joke or not... Was it a joke???
