Iran said on Thursday that they have recovered parts of a US spy drone in their territorial waters. Iran downed the aircraft in a missile strike. United states president Donald Trump responded through a tweet that “Iran made a very big mistake in shooting down a United states military surveillance drone over the Strait of Hormuz. It could have been the result of human error. I find it hard to believe it was intentional.” Iran said ‘the drone had violated Iranian airspace’ but the United states military has denied it. Donald Trump said later at the white house that “This country will not stand for it, that I can tell you.”

But as the overnight incident created fears of open clash between the United States and their declared rival Iran. Iran raised the crude oil prices up more than 6 percent. Donald Trump said that “I think that it could have been somebody who was loose and stupid that did it.” He added “You will find out” when asked about the relation about Iran. It’s unable to say that what would be the next move of Washington after the mixed response of president Donald Trump.

Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif announced on Thursday that some parts of the US drone were recovered in Iranian territorial waters. And Tehran will bring this incident before the United Nations. He also added “We don’t seek war, but will zealously defend our skies, land & waters.” Zarif also provided the coordinates to prove their claim “At 00:14 US drone took off from UAE in stealth mode & violated Iranian airspace. It was targeted at 04:05 at the coordinates near Kouh-e Mobarak.”

The Pentagon published a map showing the flight path of the drone which shows it traveled outside of Iranian waters and also included a photograph that shows it was at the coordinates when it was downed. In a letter to the UN Security Council and UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres Iran mentioned “dangerous and provocative act by the US military forces against the territorial integrity of the Islamic Republic of Iran.” United States President Donald Trump repeatedly says that he does not favor war with Iran unless it is to stop the country getting a nuclear weapon something Iranian leaders insist they are not pursuing.

When aked about if the countries were nearing a conflict Donald Trump replied “I think anybody would believe that we’re one step closer. They shot down an American asset well within international waters trying to assess the situation. What are you supposed to do?” Iran’s UN ambassador Majid Takht Ravanchi said “the drone was engaged in a clear spying operation in what he called a blatant violation of international law.” UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres has recommend all parties to exercise in maximum self control. Lt Gen Joseph Guastella Commander of US Air Forces Central Command said “the drone had been operating at high altitude and was about 34km from the nearest point on the Iranian coast when it was shot down.” On 2011 Iran said “it had captured a US RQ-170 Sentinel reconnaissance drone that had been reported lost by US forces in neighbouring Afghanistan. It developed it’s own version of the drone one of which was shot down by Israel last year.”
